The article

The homepage uses ten cards on a 12-column grid: five for the introduction, four for the portrait and contact, and three for the rail. That 5-4-3 rhythm gives each part a clear rank, so visitors can understand the practice before reading every detail.

Each card supports one decision. The introduction explains the design-and-code role, the portrait makes it personal, the service card gives a next step, and the lower row points to writing, resources, and tools. Useful content earns its space; a card that does no work can be reconsidered.

A compact page works when each card answers a different visitor question.

The live clock and theme toggle add small functional details. The clock situates the page; the persistent theme switch lets the visitor choose a comfortable view. Everything else stays focused on clear information and working links.

On mobile the grid follows a single reading order: introduction, portrait, contact, services, then supporting material. On tablets, related cards pair up while the service rail becomes a two-column group. The same content remains easy to scan at every width.

Use the same approach on a product page: make the offer clear, show the person behind the work, and give every supporting card a useful next step. The Portfolio Starter Template packages this grid for people building their own site.
